You will become acquainted with your horse as you ride around the stable grounds. Your group and your horses will be transported to rugged grassy hills of the beautiful town, Mosfellsbær. Along the way you will visit an Icelandic tack shop.
Your trail takes you along the wind swept jagged coast to an equestrian community in Fjárborg. The village is known for circular basins piled turf or stone that were used in earlier centuries to shelter sheep in winter. Some basins even sport a dome.
Day off ,shopping and relaxation day. Everybody take care of themselves, going to and from downtown, as well as having lunch and dinner.
Today, you will ride through the picturesque valley of Elliðarárdalur. Considered to be a hidden nature gem where you will delight in the pungent smell of the pine forest and rabbits scurrying along your path. Your trail then turns through the vast greenland of Vatnsendi until you reach your final destination of the riding community of Fákur. Your ride continues along the endless crystal Elliðavatn Lake where trout fishing is abundant. Then your trail leads through the vast expanse of bushy vegetation and lava formations found in the Heiðmörk National Park. Some of the park’s most notable features are the Rauðhólar or ‘Red Hills’ – the remnants of a cluster of pseudocraters in Ellidaárhraun lava field. The area’s abundance of trees have become the home to 30 species of breeding birds.
Enjoy your last glimpse of Heiðmörk as your trail turns to the horse community Sörli nestled in Hafnarfjörður. You will enjoy this change of scenery as the panorama reveals a picturesque town on the southwest coast which is home to both Vikings and elves!
Your horse will carry you from Sörli in Hafnafjörður through the equestrian community of Sprettur back to Vatnsendi.
